I have to admit that I wasn’t a big fan of Mr. Raichlen, but his latest book, Planet Barbecue reeled me in. It’s like the world tour of barbecue. New ideas from 60 countries. Now who wouldn’t love that? About the time grilling redundancy began to creep up on me, this book reignited my fire.
Steve Raichlen has created the text book of global grilling. Exotic flavors and techniques are what I found to be the most interesting. From the Tuscan-Style Chicken Under a Brick (Pollo al Mattone) to Thai Grilled Chicken (Gai Yaang), the pages are loaded with interesting tidbits.
Whether you follow his many recipes to the letter or not, the ideas will offer an interesting perspective that can be utilized on your next grilled meal.
Without getting into the main recipes, here’s just a quick glimpse of the many additional finds tucked away within the pages of Planet Barbecue.
- Simple Moroccan Hot Sauce (Harissa)
- How to Brine Lamb Chops
- Mustard Plum Barbecue Sauce
- Jamaican Seasonings
- Colombian Guacamole (Salsa de Avocate)
- Tuscan Bean Salad
- The Birthplace of Tandoori
- And tons more!
You guys are going to love this book. I believe it’s the idea book of the year. Watch the trailer, then head on over to Amazon and read all the reviews. Everyone loved it! Here’s the link.
