McDonald’s Unveils its New Product: Mighty Wings
Starting on September 9th, McDonald’s will roll out it’s new menu item…Mighty Wings. Yep, just old fashion chicken wings. With a national roll out to be in place by September 24th, I’m curious why they didn’t call it the McWing.
The new Mighty Wings will be flavored with traditional wing seasonings, cayenne and chile pepper and be served with your choice of 9 sauces, creamy ranch, honey or hot mustard, spicy buffalo, sweet chili, sweet-and-sour, barbeque and honey and chipotle barbeque.
The Mighty Wings will be available in 3, 5 and 10-piece increments starting at $2.99. Like the McRib sandwich, the wings will only be available for a limited time…through November.
Now, I love a good chicken wing, but it’s going to take quite a while for me to associate good wings with McDonald’s. If that were to happen, the limited time will probably have expired. Plus, at a buck a piece, that’s an expensive wing considering the national average is nearly half that.
I’m curious about the thought process that went on at McLand’s corporate offices. The current trend among fast-food chains is boneless chicken. Why bring back the bone, especially when you have cornered the market of chicken snacks with the McNugget? I wonder if the timing of the product launch has anything to do with the opening of football season. If that were the case, I’d think the limited time would end after the Super Bowl when wing sales are at their highest level.
Only time will tell. There’s a lot of smarter people over at McDonald’s than me. I’m sure they spend millions on market research. I’m just curious what they know that I don’t.
If you were in one of the market areas, did you try them? Leave a comment below. I’d love to hear what you thought.

HOT NEW PRODUCT!
I can not tell a lie, I’m a sucker for hot sauce! You know how I love my hot wings. Now, I can make one mean batch of chipotle hot sauce, but I have to admit, Tabasco did a pretty decent job with their version. Way easier than mixing up my concoction! You’d best getcha some before I buy it all up!
