Blueberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

A sweet-style barbeque sauce with a powerful blueberry punch. Great on chicken or pork.
Go Get This Stuff
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberry syrup
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Louisiana-style hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice
Then Do This
  1. In a food processor or blender, purée the blueberries.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and continue to blend until well mixed, scraping down the sides occasionally.
  3. Strain mixture through a cheesecloth if a smooth texture is desired. (I didn't bother)
  4. Pour sauce into an airtight container. Sauce will keep for up to three months if refrigerated properly.
  5. For best results, allow sauce to age in the refrigerator for a few hours before use.
Due to the high sugar content of this sauce, it will burn easily over an open fire. Apply only during the last 5 minutes of grilling and once more just before serving.
