Chick-fil-A Introduces Chicken and Waffles
Well, It’s about time! Finally, one of the kings of fried chicken is joining the rest of the world and hopping on the chicken and waffle bandwagon. Chick-fil-A confirmed they are test-marketing their version of chicken and waffles in central Georgia , Memphis, Philadelphia, and the Inland Empire region of California.
The new offering is not a sandwich. Chick-fil-A describes the new item as “a breakfast portion” of boneless, seasoned chicken breast served alongside a maple syrup-flavored waffle, with a side of honey.
One would have thought the Atlanta-based company would have been first to embrace such a Southern tradition as chicken and waffles. In the world of here today, gone tomorrow food trends, it seems somewhat of a gamble to jump in now. Or, is it?
Chick-fil-A may be smarter than the average cow. It’s doubtful that the introduction of chicken and waffles has anything to do at all with food trends. The trend Chick-fil-A is following is of a financial nature, and that’s the fast food breakfast trend. Why, it’s so hot, everyone’s doing it now.
While Burger King and McDonald’s have been serving breakfast for some time, others chains have entered the market for their piece of the omelet. White Castle, Subway and Taco Bell, to name a few, are recent entries into the almost 15 billion dollar fast food breakfast game. It looks like the breakfast wars are on!
Earlier this month, Chick-fil-A introduced a specialty-grade coffee. David Farmer, Chick-fil-A’s vice president of product strategy and development summed up their coffee by saying, “It’s not something we’re proud of. In fact, it’s not uncommon for breakfast customers to walk in with coffee cups from other restaurants.” Without good coffee, it’s not good breakfast.
It looks as if Chick-fil-A is reevaluating their entire breakfast line, beginning with the basics…coffee. That’s a smart move. It’s a move other chains need to make. Another smart move would be to have the best chicken and waffle breakfast out there. I can’t wait to try one.

Unfortunately, there’s no chicken and waffle recipe on this site. That’s so wrong. That will change. Until then, try these.
